23rd Birthday!

August 31.
My birthday.
Today I'm 23!
My 22nd year was an amazing year. It was a year of growth. I have changed in ways that I expected, and didn't expect. I have learned lessons, accomplished goals, conquered fears, made decisions, changed my outlook on life, and become stronger in my relationship with the Lord. I learned not to lean on my own understanding, but on the Lord. I got to experience the strongest faith I have ever seen while in Africa, and have a yearning to live it and see it here.

I still have to much that I want to do. I want to make my 23rd year, even better that my last one. I want to grow, learn, experience, accomplish and change, all for the better. I want to grow deeper in relationship with the Lord.

Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.
Jeremiah 1:5

About 4 days ago, I made a big, exciting decision. The decision to work full time overseas. I want to work for a foreign aid organization, or an NGO. In order to get there, there are steps that I need to take first, in order to work overseas. Like school.  I want to take my global studies degree. I am going to register for classes this January. I never expected to go back to school, but I am incredibly excited.

I hope that on my 24th birthday, I can look back and say that my 23rd year was better than my 22nd.

So..
Here's to the future!

  1. Happy (late) Birthday, Elizabeth! I have been reading your blog for about six months, but have never commented! You have the biggest heart for the Lord and it is so inspiring to me! Since I started dating my boyfriend, my heart has opened up so much to missions and I have truly realized how important it is for us to do as God commands and spread His Word across the globe. I went on my first international mission trip to Costa Rica this summer and am hoping to be in Africa next summer. Your blog is so encouraging to me and it is so exciting to read about how powerfully the Lord is working in your life. Have a great weekend!

    God Bless,

    Katy

  2. Katy!

Thankful for the sweet message! I read it on a down day, and it really brightened my day!! I'm excited that you are opening up to doing missions. It's, simply, the best thing in the world. Its so amazing to see God work in new ways. I would love to hear about your time in Costa Rica! Where is Africa were you thinking of going?

    Blessings!
    Elizabeth

  3. I'm so glad God allowed my comment to bless you on a crummy day. I love it when that happens! God blessed me so much through my trip to Costa Rica and completely changed my heart. We worked with about eighty children that live in an impoverished community called Los Guidos. I have never seen the Lord shine as much as He did through the kids we worked with, as well as the adults of the church we worked with. These people had SO little, but were satisfied because they were loved by God. It was awesome and I wish I was still there! Reading about your recent trip has made me miss that environment, but I am so thankful I was given the opportunity.

I am not entirely sure where I will in the summer. The trip is through Reign Ministries and they haven't posted the list of countries they are traveling to this summer yet, but Sierra Leone seems to be one traveled to often and I would absolutely love to be there, so we will see!

Have a great rest of the week!
